Aprea (APRE) to host pre‑ESMO virtual panel on WEE1 inhibition; APR‑1051 in Phase 1
Aprea will host a virtual panel titled “The State of WEE1 Inhibition in Precision Oncology” on Oct 20 ahead of ESMO to discuss WEE1 biology, class selectivity challenges and near‑term watch points. The company noted its lead program APR‑1051 is an oral WEE1 inhibitor currently being evaluated in the ongoing Phase 1 ACESOT‑1051 study in biomarker‑defined advanced solid tumors; no new clinical data were released.
Aprea Therapeutics to Present at October Conferences
APRE to Present at H.C. Wainwright Conference; Webcast Sept. 14
Aprea Therapeutics (NASDAQ: APRE) said CEO Oren Gilad will present at the H.C. Wainwright 28th Annual Global Investment Conference Sept. 14–16, with a webcast available from 4:30 PM ET on Sept. 14 and management available for one-on-one investor meetings. The company reiterated its lead clinical-stage programs—APR-1051 (oral WEE1 inhibitor) and ATRN-119 (ATR inhibitor)—both in development for solid tumors.
Aprea expands IP protection for WEE1 and ATR programs; APR-1051 in Phase 1
Aprea said it expanded its patent estates for both its WEE1 and ATR inhibitor programs — the WEE1 family includes multiple pending U.S. and non-U.S. applications (2 pending U.S. apps, 1 U.S. provisional, 2 granted non-U.S., 12 pending non-U.S.) that, if granted, would expire in 2047, while the ATR estate includes 4 granted U.S. patents, additional pending U.S./international filings and 22 granted/13 pending non-U.S. patents with granted expirations of 2035–2037 and pending filings that could extend protection into 2045 (plus potential regulatory exclusivities). Clinically, APR-1051 (WEE1 inhibitor) is being evaluated in the ACESOT-1051 Phase 1 trial in biomarker-defined advanced/metastatic solid tumors; ATRN-119 had an RP2D of 1,100 mg QD from ABOYA-119 but the company closed that dose-escalation study in 2025 to focus resources on APR-1051 and is considering ATRN-119 combination approaches.
Onco‐Innovations positioned as PNKP leader; ONC010 posts preclinical survival gain, Phase 1 planned
An editorial highlights Onco‐Innovations' ONC010, a nanoparticle‐encapsulated PNKP inhibitor, reporting preclinical data where ONC010 extended median survival to 60 vs 23 days in PTEN‐deficient colorectal cancer mice, with limited observed toxicity and ongoing API/process scale‐up and IND‐enabling studies ahead of a planned first‐in‐human Phase 1 activation in late‐2026. The piece frames PNKP inhibitors as a potential next wave in DNA Damage Response oncology beyond PARP and notes the company's exclusive global IP across the inhibitor, delivery platform and synthetic‐lethality applications, but all efficacy claims remain preclinical and subject to typical early‐stage development and regulatory risks.
